During Matt Anderson’s last trip to the dentist the furniture paid the price. Terrified, Anderson applied a “death-grip” so tight he actually broke the arm off the dental chair.

“I know that grown men shouldn’t feel scared in the dentist’s chair, but I can’t help it after all I’ve been through,” he said.

He’s obviously not looking forward to his next visit either.

“I know I should see the dentist, but if I find out that I do need to be worked on, I don’t know if I could sit through a procedure,” said Anderson, who recently moved to Great Falls. “My wife held my hand the last time I had a cleaning.”

It’s common for adults to have child-like fears if they’ve had at least one bad experience during childhood.
